Meet Dick and Elda Edwards, the original owner/operators of Turkey Creek Ranch. Dick and his parents purchased the property that became Turkey Creek Ranch in early 1953. When Dick and Elda married in August 1953, they honeymooned on the property and began to think of turning an old run down farm into a resort. Now five children, 24 cabins and casitas, and numerous renovations later, Turkey Creek Ranch is the beautiful family vacation resort envisioned by Dick and Elda so long ago.

Robert and Loretta Edwards and their children, Ashley and Ryan, now operate Turkey Creek Ranch. Robert grew up at Turkey Creek Ranch. He left for college and work, returning in 1988 with his family to help carry on the Turkey Creek tradition. Robert does maintenance, trail rides, cattle ranching, etc. Loretta oversees the office and cleaning crews and assists with trail rides. Ashley and Ryan help out by delivering newspapers, hauling trash, stripping cabins and going along on trail rides. Plus they’re great at meeting and greeting guests! Turkey Creek Ranch truly is a family resort!

Robert is heading back from a trail ride. Our rides offer both beginner and advanced riders a chance to see Bull Shoals Lake and Ozark Mountain country up close. Deer, turkey, armadillos and other wildlife are often seen during rides. Our trail horses are of various breeds including Quarter horse, Morgan, Paint, Appaloosa and Mustang. We also have a pink and a brown burro that are favorite pets. They have a definite weakness for peppermint candies! Besides horses, we also have a herd of beef cattle and at last count ten cats!

Ashley, Robert and Loretta’s daughter, frequently goes along with Dad on rides. She’s a good rider and can ride those horses that need a work out. In this picture, Ashley and a friend are bringing up the rear on a ride. They like the back so they can talk!

Ryan is playing shuffleboard with a guest. He takes his duty as a meeter and greeter seriously and is willing to show folks how to play shuffleboard, bumper pool or other games. The rec rooms also have pool tables, video games, foosball, table games, etc., for evening or rainy day entertainment. The indoor pool and whirlpool hot tub are also in the same building making it a very popular gathering place.

Since there’s always plenty to do on a ranch, sometimes bigger really is better. Our dozer has already proven a huge help in clearing fence rows, cleaning and repairing ponds, etc. Several guests have hinted that dozer rides should be our next attraction!
